Legendary Driver L.D. Parker at Extravaganza

Also making it to the 2007 Extravaganza was Nationally known and Legendary Mississippi driver, J.D. Parker. Mr. Parker tore up the South Mississippi dirt tracks back in the 50's, 60’s and 70’s winning over 500 races. His sons rebuilt his 1970’s sprint car (pictured above) several years back. Last year this car was on display at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in Jackson. It's now on display in the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa. He and his family came all the way up from the Mississippi Gulf Coast to see our car and share pictures and memories of his long racing career. Mr Parker brought 2 grocery sacks full of photo albums to the show. It was exciting looking at all the pictures and hearing his memories of racing “Back When”. Next year we hope that he will have his sprint car back from Iowa and can bring it to the Extravaganza.
